Director of Bands
JACOB WEINSTEIN, DIRECTOR OF BANDS
Jacob Weinstein is the Director of Bands at Habersham Central High School in Mt. Airy, GA. Mr. Weinstein is a Phi Beta Kappa recipient and a magna cum laude graduate of The University of Georgia’s Hugh Hodgson School of Music. Mr. Weinstein graduated high school from George Walton Academy in Monroe, GA and was a member of their nationally recognized band program for eight years. At The University of Georgia, Mr. Weinstein played french horn in the Hodgson Wind Ensemble for three and a half years. Mr. Weinstein also was a member for five years of the Redcoat Marching Band, where he played mellophone. He served for three years on the leadership team for the mellophone section as rank and section leader. Mr. Weinstein also has experience on trumpet as a member of the UGA Jazz Band I. At UGA, Mr. Weinstein studied horn with Dr. Jean-Martin Williams and conducting with Dr. Jacquelyn Hartenberger, Dr. Dwight Satterwhite, and Dr. Brett Bawcum. His professional associations include the Georgia Music Educators Association, National Band Association, National Association for Music Education, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, and the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society. Previous to his appointment at Habersham Central High School, Mr. Weinstein served for three years as the Director of Bands at Temple High School in Temple, GA, where his ensembles earned consistent superior ratings, class championships, and a division championship in 2020.
