RYAN DUKES, DIRECTOR OF BANDS

Mr. Dukes serves as Director of Bands at HCHS were he served from 2007-2023 prior to retiring after 30 years of teaching. Prior to his tenure at HCHS, he was the band director at Washington-Wilkes High School, Westside High School (Augusta), Langford Middle School, and Reynolds, Lamar, and Lake Forest Elementary Schools. Mr. Dukes' bands have consistently earned Superior ratings at District, State, and National Festivals and Competitions. Mr. Dukes currently serves as a Head Adjudicator for GMEA and is an active clinician throughout the southeast. Mr. Dukes holds a Bachelor of Music from Augusta College and a Master of Science with an Emphasis in Educational Leadership from Troy State University. His professional affiliations include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Georgia Music Education Association, National Association of Music Educators, the National Band Association, American School Band Directors Association and Professional Association of Georgia Educators. He lives in Clarkesville with his wife Nora, the Music Specialist at Fairview Elementary. They have three children: Brendan, Katherine, and Cecilia, and two grand-children, Elsy and Thiago.
